Pistons Academy

Leagues/Clinics

Pistons Academy Mini-Hoopers League

For boys and girls currently in Kindergarten-1st Grade, this
youth basketball league is designed to introduce young
athletes to the sport in an organized, team setting. Players
will learn rules of the game, the fundamental skills necessary
to play, and how to be a valuable member of their team.
This introductory league will feature age-appropriate rules
and equipment to maximize skill development, while also
teaching young players how to perform in a team setting.
Each week will include 30-minutes of practice, followed by
30-minutes of scrimmaging and games. The season ends
with a Pistons Academy “Big Game” and features guest
apperances from popular Pistons personalities. All players
receive a league jersey and season-ending award.

Grades: KR-1st

Saturdays, between 9am and 11am

Session I: October 26th-December 7th

Session II: January 11th-February 22nd

Pistons Academy Rookie League

The Pistons Academy Rookie League is designed to expose
players to the next level of basketball. Players are placed on
a team via a player draft and will learn fundamental basketball
skills throughout the season. Each team qualifies for the
playoffs and all participants receive a Pistons Academy jersey
and season-ending award.

Grades: 2nd, 3rd, beginner 4th

Thursdays, Between 5:50pm and 8:20pm

Session I: October 10th - December 12th

Session II: January 16th-March 19th

Session III: April 16th-June 11th

Cost: $145

Pistons Academy Rookie Clinic

The Pistons Academy Rookie Skills Clinic will feature top Pistons Academy coaches conducting an hour of basketball instruction designed for the younger athlete. Each week, players will learn different skills through fun and challenging drills. This is the perfect program to either start your young child's basketball career or to refine the skills they already have! All participants receive a Pistons clinic shirt and compete for Pistons merchandise and giveaways.

Grades: 1st-3rd

Tuesdays, 6:15-7:15pm

Session I: October 8th - November 26th

Session II: January 14th - March 10th

Cost: $125

 

Pistons Academy Spring Prep Division

The Pistons Academy Prep Division is a competitive basketball league for players in grades 4-5. All games and practices will take place on Saturdays in the spring between 10:30am and 2pm, depending on each particular team's schedule.

Grades: 4th-5th

Saturdays, Between 10:30am and 3:30pm (with occasional Tuesdays)

Session I: Winter: January 11th-March 21st

Session II: Spring: April 18th-June 13th

Cost: $150

Tournaments

Youth Basketball Tournaments

Pistons Elite

Pistons Elite Travel Basketball

The Pistons Elite Travel Basketball program is designed for advanced players looking to play with and against the best competition in the area. Pistons Elite teams are formed as needed through tryouts which are held in the fall, winter and spring. Players pay a seasonal fee which will include 20-30 practices at the Franklin Athletic Club and 20-25 games at local tournaments.  Fees range from $400-$700 per season.

Referee Training Class

Become a referee for Pistons Academy!

Looking for a way to earn good money while being around the game of basketball?  Then perhaps you should consider becoming a basketball referee!  And here is a perfect way to start that process.
This one-day seminar is designed to give high school and college-aged students an opportunity to learn the skill of basketball officiating. Students will spend 45 minutes in the classroom learning basic rules, mechanics, floor positioning and how to facilitate the game with authority.  Then, students will spend 30 minutes on the court to cover facilitation of the game; from the opening tip to the final buzzer.  All students will be invited back to a youth league game to shadow a certified referee and put into practice what they have learned.

Individual/Small Group Training

Intermediate/Advanced Basketball Skill Development with Coach Bryan Bollin or Coach Tyler Reamer

Led by Coach Bryan Bollin, an experienced and dedicated instructor for the Detroit Pistons and Pistons Academy, these sessions are structured to enhance existing basketball skills and allow players to improve in all areas of the game. Training sessions are designed to accommodate the goals of each player and feature technical instruction from one of the areas top skills trainers.

 

Coach Bryan played college basketball at Grand Valley State University following a standout high school career, earning Class A All-State honors as a senior. He now works in youth basketball development for the Detroit Pistons.

Coach Tyler is the new Basketball Manager at Franklin Athletic Club and currently the Operations Manager for the Pistons Academy. He has also worked various basketball camps at Dayton and Central Michigan University. Tyler spent the last 3 years working in Operations for Central Michigan Men's Basketball. He has experience coaching multiple Travel teams through Championship Sports and now is the Director of Piston's Boys Elite Travel Basketball.

Mini Mights Clinic

Learn the basics of basketball and develop a love for the game. Skills include ball handling, shooting on lower rims, rule introduction, and more. You can never start too young!

Ages: 4-6

Mondays: 5:30-6:15pm

Private Lessons/Small Group Training

Privates

1-on-1 training with Coach Bryan Bollin or Coach Tyler Reamer, an hour of focused training and skills development.

  •  Option 1: Decide whether you want to focus on a specific area; shooting, ball handling, attacking the basket, etc.
     

  • Option 2: Player evaluation will take place and a detailed workout plan will be implemented to help player improvement.

Semi-Privates

2-4 Players training to improve individual skills. Semi-private lessons provide player-to-player competitive factor which encourages growth and player development.
