Renee is a Certified Personal Trainer through American Council on Exercise. She graduated from Michigan State University in 2004, and became certified shortly after. Renee enjoys working with women and men of all ages, and varying levels of fitness ability. She works with clients that have different needs including weight management, increasing strength and flexibility, and disease prevention. Renee develops exercise programs that efficiently help her clients reach their fitness goals, stay motivated, and take the next step towards becoming healthier and feeling better for the rest of their lives. A healthy lifestyle is the best preventative medicine.

George Jones was born in Detroit/Michigan. He arrived in Germany in 1989 as a soldier for the U.S. Army, George was the Drill instructor and leading fitness instructor for the Army and since then has made a name for himself both on the music scene and in the fitness industry. George was a sparring partner the German Heavy Weight boxing champ Kim Webber, and Middle weight contender Jerry Elliott, George was founder, choreographer, lead singer and songwriter of the popular group, Mr. President earning a gold record for their hit "Up'n Away." He first publicly combined his love of music and exercise as a fitness trainer for The Big Diet, a daily television show produced by Endemol, Germany where overweight contestants competed to lose pounds and get into shape.

George currently splits his time between Detroit, Michigan and Cologne, Germany where he continues to write, produce and perform music as well as promoting his fitness methods as a popular guest on talk, news and entertainment shows.

Kris Petrov has been personal training at Franklin Athletic Club for over seven years now. He has background in Exercise Science, and is certified as a personal trainer through AFAA (Aerobic and Fitness Association of America). He works with people of all ages who are interested in physically improving their lives. He specializes in weight management, strength training, flexibility, injury prevention, and overall fitness. He has experience working with people who are returning to their physically active lifestyles after undergoing injury-repairing surgeries. That includes hip and knee replacements, shoulder and knee ligament repairs, and other various bodily injuries.

Missy Leone graduated from University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Science degree, specializing in Athletic Training.  She also went on to get a Masters degree in Sports Administration and Management at Texas State University. As a personal trainer Missy focuses on weight loss, injury prevention, flexibility, disease prevention, biomechanics, and functional/sports specific training. Her clients range from adolescents to seniors with a wide variety of fitness levels.

Baz is a Certified Personal Trainer through ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) and a Certified Capoeira Instructor through The Zinman College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at the Wingate Institute in Israel. He has been in the fitness industry for more than five years. He works with men and women of all ages and fitness levels. Baz will help guide you to reach your personal fitness goal efficiently. If it's weight loss/management, strength training, definition, flexibility or overall fitness, he can make it happen efficiently and correctly while having a good time.
In addition he takes part in extreme sports such at Capoeira and Acrobatics. If you're looking to incorporate something out of the box into your workout, Baz can show you the way.


Reggie O'Bryant, AFAA

Reggie is one of Franklin Athletic Club's premiere fitness trainers, with over six years of fitness and nutrition experience. His expertises are in the areas of weight management, body sculpting, gaining flexibility and core strengthening. As one of Reggie's client he will work diligently with you to develop a personalized program, which may include boxing and personal training, group exercise and nutrition consulting. Reggie is known for his "Reggie's Boot Camp" Class that emphasizes: calorie burning and body toning, an overall excellent cardio workout.

Rebecca was an entrepreneur with her own legal assistant business, the Next Runner Up for 8 years serving corporate attorneys in the Oakland County Area.  She knows what it is to have a sedentary lifestyle and the motivation in your journey to stay healthy so that your body will have a place to live!

Erin has worked at Franklin Athletic Club for ten years, beginning as an Aquatics Instructor while she was finishing her Masters Degree in Physical Therapy at Wayne State University. She completed her degree in 1998 and worked in hospitals full time for six years. Erin now works exclusively at Franklin as a Personal Trainer. She is certified through AFAA, and is a licensed Physical Therapist.

Kindsey Nelson has a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science from Western Michigan University. She has been working as a personal trainer for 5 years now. She is a member of the American Council on Exercise and the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. Kindsey is a certified personal trainer by the American Council on Exercise. She has worked with kids, adults and the elderly alike. She loves helping others succeed at reaching their goals, whether it is increasing their strength and flexibility, improving their sport/activity or body toning and weight management. She enjoys dynamic training that incorporates a variety of exercises to work your entire body. Using equipment like free weights, resist-a-bands, balls and the BOSU she will maximize your time, calorie burn, and efficiency of the movement. The best part of her job is motivating, challenging and building up "fitness confidence" in her clients. In her free time she enjoys biking, rollerblading, hiking, boating, volleyball, downhill and X-county skiing along with Pilates and dance.

Melanie has worked in the fitness industry since 1996. During the years she became Group Fitness Certified through AFAA, ACE and AEA (Aquatics), teaching many different class formats from strength & cardio to yoga & Pilates.  Melanie graduated from the University of Michigan in 1999.  In 2002 she continued her fitness education and completed her Yoga Shala 200hr. training.  Over the next 6 years she became a Professionally Certified Pilates Instructor on all apparatus through PEAK Pilates out of Boulder, CO.  Melanie has worked in management in the fitness industry for over 8 years and enjoys developing her team and new fitness programs.  Along with Pilates, she is also a NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) Certified Personal Trainer.  Melanie works with men and women of all ages and fitness levels and specializes in weight loss training and special needs.  When training her focus is on overall alignment, decompression, and movement of the body. She works on fine tuning your muscles and joints, building strength and endurance to help with the functional activities of your every day life. Melanie is a strong believer in the old saying “Move it or lose it!”

As a teacher, presenter and highly trained massage therapist as well as a certified Pilates and Yoga instructor Michael Rice has spent a lifetime studying the human form and creating programs for its maintenance and longevity. For more than 20 years, he has worked with a variety of clientele from all walks of life, including those with afflicted with multiple sclerosis, ADD/ADHD, paralysis, cerebral palsy, cancer recovery, as well as the general population, and amateur and professional athletes.

As a creator, Michael extended the reach of his expertise in body maintenance to develop BBOP! (Balanced Bodies for Optimum Performance) training program. A fusion of yoga, Pilates and dance movements, this program creates accessible, user-friendly movement sequences that get clients moving in safe and effective ways., Michael taught BBOP!, along with flexibility and Pilates, for four years to the Detroit Lions. A BBOP! program DVD is currently in pre-production.

Aly Jaffe, ACE, AFFA

Aly Jaffe has been working in the fitness industry since 1994. She is certified through the American Council on Exercise as a group exercise instructor and personal trainer. In addition, Aly is certified as a personal trainer through AFAA and as a Johnny G. Spinning instructor. Most recently, Aly has completed her certification as a Stott Pilates instructor. Aly teaches both mat and equipment pilates classes and private sessions. Aly feels passionate that pilates can benefit every body type by promoting a healthy spine, proper alignment, core strength and flexibility. Aly also holds a Master of Social Work degree which helps her incorporate the psychological aspects of exercise into her training sessions.

Anna Avilova-Makupson, AFAA

Anna was born in Russia and arrived in the United States in 2002 with a strong fitness background; she is a former gymnast and professional fitness instructor since 1997. Anna was a co-owner of a fitness club with her three brothers in Estonia where she was leading fitness and dance instructor. She has a background in Exercise and Nutrition Science, and is certified as a group exercise instructor through AFAA (Aerobic and Fitness Association of America), certified Zumba instructor, and certified through Balance Body University as a Pilates Reformer, Pilates Chair instructor. Anna experienced working with children and seniors teaching dance and yoga classes. She is known for her high energy level as the “energizer bunny,” and keeps her classes fitness goal oriented and fun. Currently, Anna is enrolled in the University of Phoenix to get her degree in Criminal Justice and pursue her future career.

Denise David, O.T./Pilates

Denise has been active in Pilates for many years, initially as a former professional dancer and currently in clinical practice as a board registered occupational therapist. Academically she holds a Master's degree and to date, continues to teach dance in the community. Her background in dance includes training in all styles of dance; she was the head of a college dance program while in residence in Ohio. Currently she enjoys a varied practice in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation. She holds specialty certifications in neurorehabilitation and orthopedics. She works with myofascial pain in clinical practice, incorporating the principles of stabilization and axial elongation.


Denise Navarro, P.T./Pilates

Denise is board certified physical therapist and is excited to be at Franklin Athletic Club and teaching Pilates Reformer. Denise has her certification for Mat and Reformer in the Stott Pilates Method. As the Clinical Manager at Dequindre Physical Therapy in Troy, she brings a blend of therapy knowledge into her Pilates practice. Her strengths include integrating her knowledge of Human Performance into body awareness. With this unique focus, her skills enhance any sport, athletic and personal fitness needs.

Barbara Swaab, RYT

Barb has been practicing yoga for 26 years, and is a trained and certified yoga instructor. She has studied with many leading instructors including Jonny Kest, Sean Corn, Sharon Gannon and David Life, Beryl Bender Birch, David Swenson and Paul Grilley. Barbara's approach to teaching is a heart-centered expression of her creativity and a commitment to making yoga accessible to everyone. Barbara teaches hatha yoga as well as Vinyasa, prenatal yoga and a body rolling class. She also created a water yoga class that she offers twice a week in Franklin's pool. In 2001, Barbara co-founded YogaYears and, with her partners, launched the Yogateers game / kit in 2003. The game has already won national acclaim, including the National Parenting Center's 2003 Seal of Approval.
