On the Road to Reading
The purpose of this class is to introduce skills that your child will need for pre-reading as well as gaining confidence for the beginner reader. The focus of the class will be on fostering the following:
Language/Literacy - Which incorporates speaking
Vocabulary Development and Oral Language Development
Listening-Letter/Sound Correlation
Reading
Writing - Print Concepts
Verbalizing
Constructing Meaning - Comprehension Skills and Decoding Skills
Phonemic Awareness – Includes rhymes and word families

Instructor: Mrs. Neelu Bali
Mrs. Bali is currently the kindergarten teacher at Franklin Academy. Previously she taught at Echo Park Learning Center in Farmington Hills and Hickory Grove in Bloomfield Hills. She holds a B.Ed. degree from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada and a bachelor’s degree in Communication studies from the University of Windsor, Canada.
